How Much Does Odoo Implementation Cost? What Really Drives the Price
What really drives Odoo implementation cost: edition, hosting, apps, users, customization, integrations, data migration, training and support.

"How much will Odoo cost?" is the first question almost every business asks, and the honest answer is: it depends. Two companies of the same size can have very different projects. This guide explains what actually drives the cost, so you can plan a realistic budget and compare proposals fairly.
Two separate costs: software and services
Odoo has two kinds of cost. The software licence is paid to Odoo S.A. (for Enterprise), and the implementation services are paid to whoever sets Odoo up for you. Keep them separate when comparing quotes.
- Odoo Community is free and open source.
- Odoo Enterprise adds features and official apps, and is licensed as a subscription, generally priced per user. Check Odoo's current pricing page for your country.
- Implementation services cover analysis, configuration, customization, migration, training and support.
Hosting choice affects what is possible
- Odoo Online (SaaS): quickest to start; custom code modules are not supported, so heavy customization is limited.
- Odoo.sh: Odoo's own cloud platform, which supports custom modules and staging environments.
- Self-hosted or your own cloud (for example AWS, Azure or Google Cloud): full control, with server management to plan for.
The factors that drive implementation cost
- 1Number of apps: Sales and Accounting is a very different project from Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance and multi-company.
- 2Process complexity: approvals, multi-step warehouses, job-work or multi-currency all add configuration and testing.
- 3Customization: every feature Odoo does not do out of the box needs development, testing and future upgrade care.
- 4Integrations: connecting eCommerce, marketplaces, payment gateways, banks or a supplier's SAP system adds scope.
- 5Data migration: how many masters, how much history and how clean the data is.
- 6Users and training: more roles and locations mean more training sessions.
- 7Ongoing support: an AMC or support plan after go-live.
How to keep the budget under control
- Start with a smaller first phase and add apps once the core is live.
- Use standard Odoo where possible; customize only where it clearly pays back.
- Clean your data before migration rather than paying to clean it during the project.
- Insist on a written scope and milestones before work starts.
- Ask how customizations will be handled during future Odoo version upgrades.
Questions to ask any Odoo implementer
- Which Odoo apps and edition do you recommend for us, and why?
- What is in scope, what is out of scope, and how are changes priced?
- How will our data be migrated and reconciled?
- Who will train our users, and how?
- What support is available after go-live?
